Perfping ("we", "our", "the service") is a free network diagnostics platform operated at perfping.com. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it is used.

1. Information We Collect

Check data

When you run a network diagnostic check, we store:

The target (IP address or domain name)
The check type (ping, traceroute, DNS, etc.)
The results returned by our nodes
Your client IP address (for rate-limiting and abuse prevention)
A timestamp and a randomly generated check ID

All check records are automatically deleted after 30 days. There are no user accounts.

Log data

Our web server and CDN (Cloudflare) collect standard HTTP access logs including IP addresses, browser User-Agent strings, and requested URLs. These logs are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

Cookies

We use a single first-party cookie (pp_pill_*) to remember your last-selected tool per category. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after 1 year. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics.

2. How We Use Your Data

To execute diagnostic checks and return results to you
To allow sharing check results via a permanent URL
To prevent abuse and enforce fair-use rate limits
To display aggregate statistics (total checks per day)
To debug infrastructure issues

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Cloudflare — We use Cloudflare as our CDN and DDoS protection provider. Cloudflare processes traffic on our behalf and has its own Privacy Policy.

Google Fonts — We load fonts (IBM Plex Mono, Inter) from Google Fonts. Google may log font requests. You can view Google's Privacy Policy.

proxycheck.io — We use this service to detect VPN/proxy usage for the "My IP" feature. Your IP address is sent to proxycheck.io for this lookup.

ipapi.co / ipwho.is — Used for geolocation data in the "My IP" feature.

4. Data Retention

5. Your Rights

Since we do not maintain user accounts and checks are identified only by random IDs, most data is effectively anonymous. If you need a specific check record deleted before the 30-day expiry, contact us with the check ID.

If you are in the EU/EEA and believe we are processing personal data subject to GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase that data. Contact us at [email protected].

6. Security

All traffic to Perfping is served over HTTPS. Check data is stored in a private database accessible only to our infrastructure. We do not store passwords because there are no user accounts.

7. Children

Perfping is a technical tool intended for developers, sysadmins, and network engineers. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
